Past, discovery, leisure and memories: a Vintage hotel in the Venetian Lagoon
An ancient embankment built in the mid-1500s at the time of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, we find this old farmhouse from the 1800s destroyed but rebuilt with different orientation immediately after the Great War. It was here that the Italian trenches that defended the Piave passed through. It stood on one of the few motte that emerged from the Venice Lagoon, the area that in the old Venetian papers came and is still indicated with the toponym of Paludello.
The Paludello
A true story
At the beginning of the century, “Paludello” underwent significant changes: in fact, all the saltwater of this territory was removed thanks to impressive reclamation works which made the earth fertile. Exceptionally hard work by local farmers lead to the 1950s when “Nonna Marianna”, a former Austrian Red Cross nurse who had married “Nonno Giovanni”, met during the Second World War, created a rent-a-room or maison d’hôtes, as the French more elegantly name it. For many years this was the place where the “German lady” – that is how Nonna Marianna used to be called around the village – would receive her guests in very basic rooms and entertain them by narrating her stories with an Italian accent for the North-Europeans and with a German accent for the Italians.
A maison d’hôtes for our holiday
This cottage with its history we found it perfect to realize our dream of maison d'hôtes: a suggestive and nostalgic ``guest house``, in a territory to be rediscovered, tasted, loved: this is how the Country House Venice was born on Piave in Musile, on the banks of the old Piave at the edge of the North-East Lagoon of Venice, between Treviso, Jesolo and the Dolomites.
Italian Breakfast
In our trips around Europe, we have always appreciated a well-made breakfast, with local products even well presented.
At La Venezia on the Piave Country House, breakfast is served at your favourite time. It takes place on the ground floor, in a large room with a window to the garden. In the summer you can enjoy breakfast in the courtyard or in the portico. We will serve you an Italian breakfast, with milk, coffee, tea, cappuccino, chocolate barley, juices or fruit juices, fresh bread, butter, yogurt and organic jams, hazelnut and chocolate cream, croissants.

Our lunchroom is available to guests beyond breakfast time. You can relax reading a book from our small library, leafing through a newspaper or having a chat in front of the wood-burning stove that warms the mood in the cooler seasons.
